Another Fun Rally Weekend

Kodi and I went to the Monadnock Humane Society Christmas APDT Rally this weekend and had a great time. It was a huge trial with over 30 dogs in the Level 1 and Level 2 classes. A few less in Level 3, but those were big too.

On Sat., we Q'd in level 2 with a score of 206, and won our Level 3 with a 208. On Sun. again we Q'd in Level 2 with a 207, and won our Level 3 with a 200. That gave us our Level 3 title, and the Award of Excellence, for titling with all scores over 190. (actually, his lowest score was 200) He has now received the Award of Excellence at all levels!

We also had fun at the hotel. There's just something really fun about being away with your dog, with nothing else to concentrate on except him. We had great cuddle time with a good book in the evening, and shared scrambled eggs for breakfast!

Sounds like you had a great time! Congrats on your award...what a wonderful accomplishment. I have noticed some people are more connected with their dogs in the ring then others, the ones that are more connected are a pleasure to watch, I believe this to be true about Kodi and you...it takes time and trust to build a partnership like that! Congrats you both are awesome.

Not quite, Evelyn. It's a Best Western, and they have a nice complimentary breakfast, but you need to go down to the little breakfast area to get it... and I'm past the age for wandering around hotels in my jammies. So I did have to get up and get dressed to go retrieve it, but then we enjoyed it together in our room!

Robbie, I certainly work for that connection. We don't ALWAYS have it, but it's what we work toward. When it's there, it's the best feeling in the world... like dancing with your dog!

Congrats, sounds like you had a great weekend! Timmy and I have taken a hiatus with training until my mom gets better. I felt bad with him missing so many classes so we're concentrating on our fundamentals at home. I will be getting back in the swing over the dead of winter when he'll need some activity since being outside will be limited. My mom is on the mend and will be leaving for Florida in about a week which will be good for her. Timmy and the rest of us are planning on going down between Christmas and New Years. I've been working with him on accepting his carrier which he will now go into when I tell him "in" hopefully his first plane trip won't cause any surprises!
