Anyone tried the Sleepypod Mobile Ped Bed?

Hello,
I'm looking for a way to handle my puppy in the car. She will arrive to us next month. At the moment, she weighs 8 lbs. I've looked at the Sleepypod Clickit Sport Harness but I think Eva might be too small for the small-size harness. So now I'm considering the Sleepypod mobile pet bed. It's also crash-test approved but quite expensive. I don't know if she will mind being zipped up into a carrier. Has anyone used this bed in the car?

Thanks,
Maura

At the moment, she is 12 weeks and 8 lbs. We will bring her home at 16 weeks. The breeder thinks she may end up around 18 lbs. Eventually the Sleepypod sport harness might fit but I do need something good for now. She does seem a bit on the larger size for a Havanese puppy!

Thanks,
Maura

Yes, it sounds like she will be a big one! :) All the more to love. And yes, the Sleepypod is a goo choice for now, but at that size, at that age, I think se'll outgrow it pretty darned fast!

I just posted something about car safety options in "general discussion" that you might want to read.

I have the Sleepypod Air that I just used for the first time over the Thanksgiving weekend. My puppy is seven months and 12 pounds. She fits fine, but that will not be true when she gets bigger. I wouldn't spend the money on the regular Sleepypod as she will probably outgrow it in a month, if not before.

Just wanted to mention that the Sleepypod Air has not been independently tested. Take that info for what it's worth. Although I'm not a total fan of the conclusions Center for Pet safety comes to based on their results (I think that often a "successful" result (dog contained and restraints not letting go) would not be survivable, and conversely, at times they fail containment systems when they have not properly mounted the system on their test sled) I do think it's the best information we currently have available, and can be helpful to inform our decisions if read carefully rather than "just" looking at pass/fail ratings.

The thing that worries me a little about the Sleepypod Air, as opposed to all soft material Sleepypods is that I don't know what that metal carrying structure does during a car crash. Can it harm the dog? Just something to think about.
