Sophie learned this on this morning. I literally have to hold her back while she's lunging and scrambling to go back and do it again or she won't wait for the command. She's such a goof! Love this girl sooo much and so wonderful having her feel so good again!

I have to put the box up or she's over there doing it on her own. Once in I can't get her out without a treat. Then she's headed right back in again. I am going to put a little hole in one end to see if she sticks her nose through and runs around with the box on her.

I think what's she's TRYING to tell you, is that she wants to get boxed up and sent (first class air mail of course!) to visit those cute Randall puppies! ;)

We just got up and she ate, raced into the living room and crawled under the box. LOL. She looks so proud of herself when she learns something new and then won't stop doing it. She randomly inserts her tricks into her daily goings on it cracks me up.

We went to nosework class last night for the first time since May, just before she got sick (we had been going every week prior). She was SO happy to be doing nosework again she worked like nothing had ever happened then ran to every single person sitting along the edges in their chairs and leaped into their lap, wagging and wiggling and kissing and telling them how happy she was to see them. The ones sitting close enough together she'd just jump from lap to lap and not bother getting down first. I was really worried she'd get sick today after all the excitement and she did eat grass first thing but she seems fine now so I'm very happy!

That's about the cutest video I've seen. I'm so happy Sophie is feeling better! These dogs are amazing (I know I'm preaching to the choir). Tux, 6 months old, knows who Mark is (his two footed dad), and he knows what his "stick" (chew stick) is. I said (not thinking he would get it), "Take your stick to Mark". Tux normally covets his chew things, but the instant I said that (for the first time), he picked up his stick and galloped into Mark's office and put both paws on Mark's chair as if to offer his stick. It blew me away. I had not trained him to "take anything anywhere". I'm trying to teach him to go to his leash when he wants to potty. When I ask, "Are you hungry", he charges to the refrigerator. When I ask, "Do you want to go potty outside?" He just sits and stares.

Now I'm trying to teach him to go to his leash(called by name) and I offer a treat. He's still not remembering (pretending not to know). I'm starting to think he really doesn't like going outside. He's dumb when he wants to be.

I had a problem with Kodi trying to leave the ring at the end of a run, because he knew his reward was back by the crate. I taught him, "Get your leash!!!" with lots of cookies. Now, at the end of a run, I say, "Get your leash", and he runs to wherever the leash is (or the steward holding the leash) rather than out the gate! Good thing, because leaving the ring not on leash is an NQ! ;)

LOL Karen ok just mailed her she'll be there in a few days. Please send her back AFTER you fix her tummy issues? ;) And if you could do something about the itchies that would be great too! :D

Aww tux what a smart little guy. They can be scary smart sometimes!

I was disappointed this morning Sophie ate grass again and had some diarrhea. :( she seems a little off today too, tired. Not extreme like before certainly but I hate SO much that we will have to deal with this I was still sort of hoping it was a fluke and would go away! I worry so much that she will get sick and worry even more when she is sick it's almost easier to stay home and not go anywhere but then what kind of life is that. Sigh. I doubled her Tylosin as we are planning to go to the beach overnight this weekend and then 2 days later a big all day photo shoot for one of the childrens books I'm working on so she has to be well for that I told her (I already had to cancel that shoot once this summer because she was sick and it's not easy finding a day the models, costume and makeup people, helpers etc and renting a training building nearby for the day for studio shots and also reserving the area for the outside shoots where it all comes together). I do expect her to be fine tomorrow though.

Do you think it's a result of the extra treats? Or is it stress from being out of her normal environment? (Even if it's fun stress). Can you try to Seuss that out? Maybe give her the same amount of the same kinds of treat working in the back yard over the length of time a class takes, then see how she does? If it's stress rather than food, what about using one of the herbal stress supplement? There are a bunch of them, but according to my vet, the important ingredients are colostrum and L-theanine. They are chewable, and if it took the edge off, it might be useful for her.

Rats. It is never ending. :frusty: I'm so sorry to read it. You know, the vet food has corn and a lot of filler in it, doesn't it? I wonder if changing to ANYthing not on her reactive food list could be helpful at this point? Some kind of Limited Ingredient Diet, so that you could watch for problem foods easier?

The stress on you is hard, too.

Yes I think it's the stress, (her treats are just her canned food baked, ZD and she doesn't get more than usual really) even though good stress she has a blast wherever we go and is always at high speed which is what is so wonderful about her but apparently it doesn't do her any favors. :( I think if I had to medicate her to calm her down I'd just avoid the thing all together. I'm seriously ready to stop doing photos shoots and things where people are relying on me to be there because I have cancelled on so many people this summer. It's extra stressful to worry about that and getting ready to go and will Sophie get sick and will we have to cancel or not get the job done and will an alien ship come down and land on my car with no way to get Sophie to the vet if I needed to.... (true story! Happened to me in 1726, Toronoto, Ontario, was on the front page of the paper!) ;)

I do have some Sileo but have been afraid to try it. A few times now she's been licking and licking her girlie bits and I'm worried about vaginitis or something due to the Tylosin. argh. I am terrified of crystals and stones and want to avoid that at any cost. I may try the Sileo though as we have a few big days coming up like you say may help her not get a flare anyhow. I'm just so scared of trying new stuff on her.

We went to a ball game last night looking forward to watching relative play hanging with cousins etc, as soon as we get there some idiot had let their kid hold on to their huge lab mix who of course broke away and rushed Sophie so fast I didn't see it coming. I don't know what his intentions were but wsn't going to wait to find out so I was yelling and hitting him in the head with the legs of my folded up lawn chair (wanted to hit the kids parents in the head) so stopped it. I always have an eagle eye out for that kind of situation and can take precautions at least Sophie didn't seem to care. The kids learned a few new cuss words!

Then we were leaving and walking and again I watch things like a hawk but she grabbed something off the ground I missesd and I fished out a big spicy curly fry... got it all THANKfully!

During the game 2 really young kids were running around screaming and would swoop by and taunt her so I held her. She was watching them with ears up so I put her down (next to me would never let her go out to get creamed) and they started running up to her yelling and waving their hands right in her face trying to get her to play, then running off and around again. I wanted to see what she would do so let that go on since she wasn't distressed at all and finally she bounced toward one of the kids which made him scream and run off (he was playing) she decided that was kind of fun so in the end, she would run toward each screaming kid and as they would run away she would get up on her hind legs with her front paws straight up and out to the sides like a boogy man and run at them for several steps upright like that. She played with them for a long time. It was hilarious and I was SO proud of her to be able to handle that kind of situation and not be afraid or reactive in any way (not that I would expect that of her she never has been but that was an extreme test for her temperament).

Anyway point being I was braced this morning for a sick pup at some level but she got up, went a perfect potty, ate, then wanted to play! I don't let her play very hard after eating so I put her in her wire crate next to me that I stick out the open window a bit so she is laying here comfortably watching her neighborhood. She has burped a little but usually does after eating I wish I knew if that brings up acid and makes her feel bad at all. I don't see sign of it but those 8 years when I couldn't eat and stomach was so miserable some (inconsiderate!!) people would say "well you don't look sick!" when I felt heck and like I couldn't take anymore. So I am always questioning, is she tired today or is she quieter because her stomach is killing her....ugh.

But I'm thrilled she is feeling so good after all that last night but why that didn't bother her stomach and the nosework night did I don't know. Other than, nosework night, she was over the top beside herself to be there, and the ball game she is calmer at since there are no treats and working involved. :D

Sophie did awesomely with those kids! And not getting upset at the charging lab! She has a wonderful temperament, the best! And she has the perfect Momma, too, to be able to give her the freedom and yet protection she needs, too. It is so much fun to read about her and her antics.
