That's so sad! I love Chewy! They have always had such GREAT customer service and prices. I don't see how they can keep that up being a subsidiary of Petsmart. We'll see though, we can hope!

I ordered a Vari Kennel a couple months ago. It wasn't what I wanted, so I called Chewy. The lady told me not to mail it back and to donate it to a local shelter and issued me a FULL refund. That's gonna be hard for Petsmart to top!

That is extremely sad!!! Chewy does have great customer service. I ordered two kennels last year. One was much larger than I expected. I was told to put it on the porch and it would be picked up or I could donate it to a local shelter. Whenever I place an order it is delivered the next day. I'm going to miss them...

I'm not surprised. FedEx brings us several boxes from Chewy a week. I expect they were getting a big percentage of Petsmart's business. If Petsmart falls down on anything, from price to service, that Chewy was offering, I expect Amazon to outdo them with competition. The discount for autoship, and free shipping saved us a lot of trouble, if not money.

Surprised at this news- just this past weekend my eldest child was telling me that after his department relocates to their main office in a few weeks that Chewy, who also leases space in the building they are moving from, was chomping at the bit to expand into their space once they vacate. I was saying that is great news as they have outstanding customer service!

From the article, it looks like they will continue to operate "separately" with the same CEO.
But reading between the lines, as with most big mergers(takeovers/acquisitions), I suspect they will be in a slow transitioning phase over time to minimize churn of current customers. Too bad, as consumers we benefit from having choices.

My problem with Amazon is that every once in a while, they jack up the price of Kodi's limited ingredient food... by like 3x! It's not a manufacturing problem, because I can still get it for normal prices elsewhere. So I'm guessing they just don't have it in their warehouse, and would rather I choose something else. Which is not possible for him. (at least not on short notice) That's why I went to using Chewy's rather than Amazon Prime. Now we'll just have to see.

While it is a big bummer for those who don't have access to high end pet food retailers, I am glad to see the swift cutting of ties by a couple brands, and more expected to follow suit. NutriSource was very quick and blatant about the end of their relationship. Champion Petfoods, Zignature, Fromm, and other brands have made it very clear that they have no interest in the big box market. It will be interesting to see how things unfold in the coming weeks.

I have a relative that uses Jet for things, it might be a reasonable choice now? https://jet.com

Unfortunately, Jet was bought by Walmart last year, so not a great option either.
