I say have-a-niece...which actually lead someone to ask what about a have-a-nephew?

Last year during the Westminster show, the announcer pronounced it Hah-vah-knees, and now this year, he is saying it like Have-a-knees. I've had several people who have heard of the breed but did not own one pronounce it like "Hah-vah-knees" and the ones that one Havs, including myself, say "Hav-a-knees" - maybe both are correct? I'm just glad more of us are saying it like how I say it!

I say hah-van-ees. I pronounce Havana (Cuba) Hah-vah-nah...but it sometimes comes out more like Huh-vah-nah. And for another similar word...Savannah (Georgia) for me sounds like S'vanna or Suh-vayn-nah.

But I was born a southerner, but grew up mid Atlantic so that might have something to do with it.

I think they said Have-a-nees on Animal Planet's Too Cute.
