Thanks! I've been thinking about Darwin's (neighbor, who's mom is a vet, swears by it), and put in an order. I've been feeding my dogs and cat Stella & Chewy's or Primal since I got them, but the cost is becoming prohibitive with the second dog. I go through three-and-a-half $27 bags a week, and that's not including the cat.
Have you place an order through Amazon? Shipping says usually between 6-10 days. That's kinda a wide range when thinking about re-ordering. I have a very small freezer.

UPDATE: As I research this more, I see Darwin's is cost averaging the shipping when you buy through Amazon. They do that for simplicity and 'fairness' much like Detroit automakers used equalized freight so a car cost the same in San Francisco as it did in the Detroit city limits.
They have averaged it at about 84¢ per lb. which means depending where you live (see their zone map) it is cheaper to order direct from Darwin's if you live in Zones 1, 2, or 3. If you live in Zones 4 or 5 it's cheaper to buy through Amazon.
Zone 1, 2, 3 - Cheaper direct from Darwin's Zone 4, 5 - Cheaper through Amazon
I'm in Zone 5, but if I stick with the Darwin's, I'm not sure I can work with the shipping unknowns. I ordered on October 10th, and it said it would ship between 6-10 days (a bit of a guessing there). Two days ago, it said it had shipped, but the delivery date was to be on November 2nd, which made no sense, but.....okay. Anyhow, the box arrived yesterday. I tried the chicken with my pups this morning, and other than a first reaction of hey, this isn't my food, and the two of them going back and forth to each other's bowl to check to see what was in there, they gobbled it up and went looking for more, even my VERY picky eater non-hav boy. I have to figure out serving size now, especially with my piggy puppy girl, who always acts like I'm starving her, but would eat her entire weight in one training session, if she could, and that's after a meal
I'm going to see how they like the other meats before ordering through Amazon again, since they seem to only offer the variety packs.
I am also in Zone 5. I checked up the price on Amazon for the 20 lb Darwin pack (free shipping), and the invoice for the same 20-lb. pack ordered directly from Darwin, and the difference is only $3.56. Not much of a saving.
I tried calling customer service yesterday for help with feeding amounts for a puppy, but I only got message saying there was a back up in calls and emails due to them changing out their system, and to leave a message when I could be called back, but basically something like "no promises" as there is, more or less, a line. Egad! I was thinking of trying the trial for my elderly, fatso cat, but I'm "old school," in that I want to be able to talk with a person if I need help. Hopefully, they'll get this straightened out asap. In the meantime, does anyone with experience here have recommendations for a six-month-puppy, who is a hefty (breeder's word ) nearly 12-pound girl, who also has quite a bit of training treats daily (Plato's Small bites), and gets the occasion chicken neck. She's ALWAYS scrounging for food, so I can't use her as a guide to when I'm overfeeding.
If you FO a search on Deacon Blues, he did a thread on calculating the amount of food (Darwin) to feed his Hav, Rory. Or you can check his blog, Havanese World.
