hmm....let me think here about this and how to word it.......

I use a fusible on all my pieces.....it is easiest for me to describe it as a cookie cutter. I have an a magazine I will try to find the area in and post showing the fusible technique.

If you already know that technique......then I will go on to say that I start with a drawing and look at it closely, where it starts and stops, sections etc. Then I cut it out in a particular order.....much like a puzzle. For example--if you look at my Cheers block....the margarita bottle is cut out exactly and the tequila bottle is cut to fit exactly next to the margarita bottle. These do not overlap each other. They fit together like a puzzle piece. But when she is talking about a smaller piece (such as the labels on the bottle or the little lemons and lime at the bottom those are overlapped and the whole tiny piece is fused (not that cookie cutter edge-only with fusible).

Does that make sense?

I would always try to avoid layers and layers on top of each other....but there are small pieces where even though that is best, a person just can not do. If for some reason you have a fabric showing through another and it bothers you,AFTER it is sewn......you can turn it onto it's back side and break that fusible section free and remove it....leaving it without the thickness it had before. This however-----is something that has to be done with the upmost care because a slip can cut your fabric and ruin the entire block.

Yes.
That fusible can also help stabilize your block. In fact....it has been a good long while since I actually used a stabilizer at all. Now--a person would have to (IMO) if no fusible was used. Years ago....we used paper. Today they have darn nice tear away's (I used for a paper pieced block)

Here is the last block for the HavNFun quilt! I made it today and yippee! DONE!

This block I think I will call......"Purse Play"

One day I want to add a puppy to my family and I suspect she will like to get into things as all puppies do. A purse can hold a great deal of fun!

Gee, Julie, you should put out your own line of patterns. Your Havs are styled so cute and you have such great ideas. Have you thought about it?? You could even stylize them to suit a particular breed. What I like about your ideas is that they are simple without getting bogged down by a lot of details, but express the idea so well. You could even offer kits - sounds like you have quite a stash. You are fast too - you don't appear to agonize over creating your designs.

What a cute block - Purse Play! If you get a pup in the future, you definitely need one who gets into everything! Everyone needs one - because I want to know I have company out here!

It is interesting, when all the blocks are seen together, how that little bit of yellow ties them all together. Thanks, too, for showing the closeup of how you stitched the block when using the fusible applique.

Super cute block, Julie!!! You never cease to make fabulous blocks, girl!

Linda, Kathie..lol. I suppose I think of Sonic and BK because my teenagers are always going there (and Taco Bell). I am not much of a drive through person, although, I do love the Reeses peanut butter cup blizzard from Sonic (and so does Gucci (mostly the whip cream topping and vanilla ice cream parts she is actually very picky with human food. She does like Stuffed crust pizza and anything bread with butter on it, oh..and pancakes, waffles or french toast probably the syrup.

I'm making myself hungry with all this talk!

I hope Sir Winston and Lady Mia don't read your post Kara, they think treats are veggies and some peanut butter stuffed bones!! They will be filing complaints with HF!!
