So this little guy has been with us since Saturday evening. We are delighted with him. He is confident, outgoing, calm, quite, sweet, has a slight tendency to carsickness that we are working on, a hearty appetite and a willingness to please. He was one of 4 of the Toy Story litter and tentively named Woody for the deputy character. I had not seen the movie so Calvin and I watched it Sunday evening. I am a fan of Tom Hanks work and enjoyed the Woody character. But try as I might I can't really be ok with naming this little guy Woody. It just doesn't really seem to fit. His registered name will be Mystic-Premiere Reach for the Sky (a quote of Woody's in the movie). Calvin wasn't ok with Cecil so that is off the table though I thought it a great suggestion.
We have bounced around Joey, Bobby, Manny, Skipper and Vito. All are ok and we may choose one but am open to many other suggestions.
Leo and the puppy are playing more each day and they seem to have very complimentary play styles. Neither dominant nor submissive just bouncing and tussling with each other. Of course the puppy is very young yet at 11 weeks and I am sure as he matures their play will get more vigorous. I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving day.

Thanks Tom. That makes me feel better. He'll just be "Puppy" for awhile longer. I think "Woody" seems too cute. This puppy is playful but also has a serious side. He will look into my eyes with this serious look like he is really trying to understand what I'm saying.
"Puppy" says thank you for the nice comments. We feel very lucky to be his new family.
If I can sort out how to upload video I will post some of the puppy and Leo playing. They really enjoy each other.
Funny thing this morning I had puppy in his expen outside, once while Porter was out and once while Leo was out. Neither Porter or Leo would come in without the puppy. They stood and looked at me then back at the puppy as if to say "Mom don't forget the little one!" I had to go pick him up so the bigger one would come in then take him back to the expen so he could potty without the distraction. The dogs seemed to have absorbed puppy into their pack and are looking out for him!

Here's some ideas if you still like the lion theme:

Thousands of LION NAMES for your dog or pet from Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia -
I kind of like Dillon or Levin but there are lots of nice choices.

Since his registered name is "Reach for the sky," how about something celestial like Orion, Neptune, Pluto, Nash etc. Celestial names could also relate to Leo, since that is the name of one of the oldest constellations.

Names are so personal and I'm sure you'll choose something perfect for this little guy. Hope these ideas help.

Names are difficult. I had a hard time naming my little guys. Now, I really wish I had named them Crocket and Tubbs. Love me some Miami Vice...showing my age! :) As it is, we call them Jasper and Bogey, but refer to them as the Bandit and the Ninja...which are their WWE Smackdown codenames (they are currently in a cage match while I am typing). Whatever you decide to call him will be perfect. He's a cute little guy!
