Hello all! We just got a Havanese a little more than a month ago. Her name is Riley, and she is 12 weeks old today. Here's a pic of her from a week or so ago:

YOU CAN'T SAY NO TO THOSE EYELASHES. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE.

Anyway, she is full of love and constantly in need of attention. I'm working on socializing her, but she seems more interested in meeting new humans than their dogs....oh well. She's getting one of her last parvo booster shots today, so after that, I'll be able to take her on some honest-to-goodness walks! Can't wait!

Since I already started a topic, I might throw out a question for you guys. My brother and his pit bull are coming to visit tomorrow. His pit bull seems like one of the more docile ones, although she is very very energetic. I'm a little nervous she could accidentally hurt and/or scare little Riley, and I'm leaning toward keeping them separated until Riley is older. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks, and I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Riley is adorable. Welcome :welcome:

Sassy got scared by a larger dog when she was 4 months old and till today she doesn't like large dogs. She does great with dogs her size and a little bigger up to about 25 lbs. So I would suggest being very careful with the introduction but I'm a novice dog owner. :smile2:

Riley is adorable. Absolutely, Riley should be kept separate from the Pittie. No matter HOW friendly the Pittie is, there is MUCH too large a size difference between them. Without meaning ANY harm at all... just in play... the Pit could do serious harm to your Havanese puppy... or even kill her if he stepped on her wrong.

You've got to be really careful about big dogs when you have a small breed puppy. The big dog has to be VERY calm, and COMPLETELY under control, even if it's very friendly.
