Ummm...so what else? This dog is silent. Except when one of my sons comes into the house. He's been feeding her the favorite canned food so at least she wags her tail when she barks at him.

I am having a very hard time finding treats that she will work for in puppy class. Most treats she ignores. My only other experience with dogs was a wirefox terrier + border collie and he loved everything ever made for dogs. When he visited, she was willing to eat carrots because he loves them, but she isn't very motivated by anything except chicken. Does anyone have a favorite brand of canned, cooked chicken to use for treats?

have a good night!

I either cook my own meat to use as training treats or purchase Happy Howies food roll... Or just use Fresh Pet, which is one of my dog's regular food anyway.

thank you

Thank you. I was inspired by the story of your dog. She's gorgeous!

Mine is very shy, doesn't growl, but isn't sure about busy places with dogs and people and noise. She checks out by sitting in my lap and putting her snout in my armpit. I am trying treats and trainers and gentle exposures with extra treats to get her comfortable with people. thanks for your story.

I use Happy Howie rolls and also get bags of frozen ready to eat diced chicken from the freezer section. I defrost some in a zip lock bag and either cut it into smaller pieces or just break off small bits when taking it out of the bait bag.

I use bits of rotisserie chicken (unseasoned) for the most part. I do have a myriad of other options in case my boys get bored of the chicken, which usually only happens with Nino on Tuesdays (our big training day). Sojos Simply freeze dried raw treats broken up, Cloud Star Tricky Trainers pinched apart (a single treat lasts a whole 10 min training session the way I give them), and Nature's Variety Raw Boost Mixers cut into tiny pieces before hand. Chicken will always be #1 though due to its palatability for both the dogs and for me, haha!

Java is very food motivated. However, some treats make her work and focus much more. The one thing she will ignore everything else for and keep her eyes on me for is fat-free smoked turkey hotdogs. I cut them down into very tiny cubes. When I have those anywhere near me, she will not leave my side and she ignores everything going on around her.

Izzy is beautiful and I love her markings! I'm glad she is feeling better. My girl was sick this week also. We had a 2 am trip to the ER vet (I was "sleep driving") and a sizable charge to my credit card and Thankfully, she is feeling better too! :smile2:

I have similar experiences. I had 4 prior dogs, shetland sheepdogs, that loved everything. The first treat I gave Cubby who is 14 weeks was freeze dried Orijen treats. He loves them, but they are too expensive. We have purchased about 8 different treats and he spits it out. Game them all away. Recently bought Bravo! Real Beef Hot Dog Bits. He loves them. They are not messy, really small, low calorie, and you can put them in your pocket without staining your clothes. No artificial flavors or colors, grain and gluten free.

Kati eats one type of treat. Wellness small bites. She'll eat the lamb and the chicken. She will spit any other treat out. She is however very Toy motivated. One squeak and she is eyes on. She is also a piggy so she doesn't tire of her treats quickly. It is all the poochie. Welcome to you and the lovely Izzy. There is a wealth of info and support here.
