New to the forum and wanted to say hello. I'm Jordan, from NYC. That's Tucker on the left. He turned 5 a little over a month ago and he is my best bud.

I was hoping to ask a question in the general discussion but I can't seem to post there yet. So I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong area. Does anyone have any safe insect spray recommendations? I have found a few ants in my kitchen over the past few weeks. Nothing crazy, just a few, but I would like to get rid of them and keep them away. I obviously don't want to use anything that could get Tucker sick if he were to smell/lick it. You would think Raid would come out with something that can be used around pets, but I can't seem to find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

seesawhavanese - Thanks very much for your reply. Unfortunately there isn't much I can do from outside the home as I live in a building with 360 other apartments. There is a new building being constructed next door to me which may be the underlying cause since I never had this issue until construction began. It's not a major infestation or anything like that. I come across 3 or 4 ants every 4/5 days. It's more annoying than anything.

If it is 4 or 5 ants at a time, you are probably seeing scouts from colonies disturbed by the construction looking for new sources of food. One techique is to use a common household cleaner, dish soap is fine, to wipe away their trails where they might be coming or going...if others can't find the scout trails, they tend to look elsewhere. Use the soap liberally on any place they seem to be entering, like a window sill or door. Sometimes you just have to sit and watch where they seem to be coming in...
