Griffin has been with my family for just over a month now and is about 3 1/2 months old. He's the smartest dog I've ever had, although I haven't had a dog in my family for over 30 years. Still trying to figure out the puppy thing, and trying to figure out how to manage a full time job with puppy duties, but he's such a love, it's worth the extra effort :smile2:
Welcome to the forum. I'll be picking up my puppy on Saturday. It's 10 years since there's been a dog in my house; 21 years for a puppy. I too will be juggling full time work and puppy duties. Im using a crate and an x-pen. The plan at the moment is To house train to do business outside when I'm home and there will be an indoor potty spot during the day while I'm at work. Don't plan to leave pup in the crate while at work but he will be in the x-pen.

That's what we did, and we think it worked. The only thing we didn't anticipate is that Shama usually spends her overnights in her bed within the ex pen rather than in her crate within the ex pen. When her training tray was in the pen, she slept in her crate, but since we removed the training tray in favor of a bed, she seems to almost never go into her crate. She is always crated in the car and at agility class when not working, but it's important for your dog to be content in a crate. I wonder if others who leave their dogs in ex pens while they are at work find that they lounge outside the crate more than inside it . . .
In any case, welcome to the forum. Please post photos!
