Thanks, Evelyn! It's good to hear the process, and funny her thinking that Whimsy has a "fairly long" coat. Certainly a lot more than an inch long!!!

I don't think I'd want someone to make the finished product for me… just do the part I CAN'T do, which is spin the yarn. While I'm not an expert knitter, by any means, I think even I could manage a scarf! :)

Hello Evelyn and everybody else out there. My name is Debby. I too live in Schaumburg Il. ! I grew up in Hoffman Estates (neighboring town) went away to college, got married and returned to the area where I have raised, and continue to raise ,a 23y/o son and 21 y/o daughter who are now both in college. My baby Havanese will join our household the 1st week in March. She was born on December 16th and as of today is 4 weeks old. I will see her in person for the 1st time in 2 weeks :) I am so excited!!! Our family lost our beloved Yorkie, Jazzy, last July to cancer and though he can never be replaced, we are longing for another baby to love. After ALOT of research My hubby and I decided on the Havanese breed. Our little girl (we haven't decided on a name yet) was born to Era's Havanese in Downstate Il. I promise lots of pics, maybe the first from our family visit.
I am a Cardiac RN and work 3 12hr shifts per week. I have planned a couple of weeks off to start the process of integrating our puppy to our home. I will of course be devoting 24/7 to her. After that my husband Dave, who is a dentist, and i will try our best to manipilate our schedules so that our baby has someone home all the time. I have started searching for sitters who can be "on--call" for those days when when nobody will be home for more than a couple of hours.
I love visiting the site and soaking up the advise and wonderful stories. Trust me, you will be hearing from me OFTEN when our puppy comes home at 11 weeks of age.
    Sorry for the lengthy entry!

Here's a link to help start your investigation of anterior hip replacement:

There's a TON of info out there.... you just have to hunt for it!

I also wanted to tell you that I had no problems with my insurance company covering this procedure. I don't know if it costs more or not - but Blue Cross Blue Shield didn't deny any of the costs....
