Hi, unfortunately, although I do know a lot of the NE breeders, I only know one expecting a litter any time soon, and she already has a list more than twice as long as she could possibly have puppies for. Newport Nauti (who bred my Panda) MIGHT have another litter late in the year... not sure. Also not sure what Meadowview in East Longmeadow is planning, nor Quickstep in RI.

I'd be interested to know why, of all things, CERF is so important to you? While eyesight is important, certainly, this is not the biggest problem in the breed. I would want to make sure the breeder was doing ALL health testing required for our breed!

I didn't realize June had stopped breeding!

    Good luck in your search!

    Hi
Do you know of any breeders in the North or South East? I would only consider buying from a breeder that health tests, especially CERF.
My girl passed away last year at 13. She was from June Herzog at Jubolee Havanese in New Hampshire who is not breeding anymore.
    Thank you,
    April

Thank you for the info on Linda Aronson. I plan on emailing her now. Is it okay to tell her that I was given her name by someone I met on the Havanese forum? Thanks again! - Linda

Hi Karen. I've been looking for my first Havanese all summer, am on a couple of waitlists, but finally settled on getting a 'retiring' 5 yr old from Sandra and Dan Cacace in CT. As I currently have some health issues, getting an adult makes more sense. Since you are so knowledgeable about all the New England breeders, I just wonder if there is any thing about this breeder I should be aware of. Our future Havi is expecting puppies in mid-October, will be spayed and health certified, and will finally be available for us in late December. Sandra and Dan have been very responsive to my phone calls and text messages, sent pictures and a video but don't allow visitors because of COVID. Any thoughts? I have enjoyed reading your comments and tips on this forum. Thanks! Margo

    Hi Karen,

Just thought I'd let you know about a company I have been getting food for Ditto and Phoenix. Both have allergies so I have to be very careful what I feed them. This food has really worked out and they LOVE it. Let me know what you think.

    Hi Karen,

I hope you aren't sick of me yet!! So, I just called Harmony Havanese https://harmonyhavanese.com and he has 1 puppy, 9 weeks old. He says he breeds mostly for himself to show and doesn't breed often. He had someone who was going to take this puppy, a repeat buyer but it is smaller than they wanted so he has one puppy available. It's a female but she is small. She was 1 lb 10 oz at 4 weeks so he is projecting that she will be around 5 lbs. Definitely smaller than I was thinking of, however, I am trying to decide if I would be OK with that. He is bringing her to the vet for shots this week.

What are your thoughts? Would you be concerned with her potential size? He said she is healthy and has no health issues. I will get info on her parents, he had to get off, he was driving and was dropping his daughter off in NYC and had to get off the phone.

Not much on the forum to be found...

    Thanks!!
    Steph

    Hello
I watched a video of you grooming one of your Havis. I didn’t pay it much attention but now I need to groom Miss Ava. Can you send me the clip?
I had been afraid to try this but with the stay at home order I may need to overcome my fears.
    Thanks

    Karen,

One more time ... please tell me the name of the combined Shampoo with Conditioner that you use? I thought I wrote it down and can't find it, and not sure where I saw it on the forum.

    Thanks for you time,

    Mikki

Hey Karen - do you know any of the administrators? I cannot reply to anyone's thread. I'm only able to start a new thread. Do you happen to know anyone?

Hey I found a message board of you giving info to someone for a havanese breeder in the NYC area. Can you please give me that info too? I'm looking to get a Havanese puppy. Thanks!

Thanks Karen. I know you're right yet, my partner is so sick of me fretting about which puppy we're getting that I'm afraid to bring this up. She'll just flip out. And yet, last winter when I really wanted a Maltese, the reason we didn't one was that they're so small and fragile. We live in Boulder Colorado...we take pretty good hikes. Our last dogs came with us all the time but they were 10 and 8 pounds. I just can't imagine a 2.25 pound dog at 16 weeks getting to even 7 pounds. Well...this is going to be a difficult discussion evening if I'm even able to bring it up.

Sorry! I didn't see this post until today! But I saw on the forum that you did really well anyway!!! Congratulations!

I just make sure mine a combed out almost daily, and bathed every week to 10 days. I use conditioner most of the time, but NOT just before a show, because they are fluffier without conditioner, and mine are the type with flatter coats. I think Diego has more undercoat than mine do, based on his photos. So he might be plenty fluffy even with conditioner! You have to learn the qualities of your particular dog's coat, and learn how to present it the nicest way! But based on your success, it sounds like you are well on your way!!!
