Hello!
It is WAY past time for me to get Tillie a car seat. I am looking into a "console" type otherwise I will constantly have to be moving it from the back to the way way back and I just can't do that with my back. lol did I say "back" enough times for you? lol
Anywhooooo... so, what are YOUR car seat recommendations? Does anyone HAVE a console car seat?? I already have a car harness and clip but need a car seat, a cozy, comfy one. :D

I may be posting this in the wrong section, but if there IS anyone who would like to sell a car seat, pm me! :) or please post suggestions!
thanks!

Since you already have the harness and seat belt, have you considered maybe just using a donut bed type of thing? That would be very easy to move and would be safe since she's already secured by the harness/seat belt.

I've thought of that, but over the past 6 months she has developed (unexplainable) nervous ness in the car, it's as if she is trying to escape... I thought a high walled car seat or something like that might help her feel more secure?
I've tried a crate and she freaked out even more... :(

I gave up. For the longest time, I used a crate for Momo, but, I could tell she really hated going bye-bye. Then, I got a car seat, hoping that would help. Nope. Finally, I got a dogbed and a harness and strappy-thing. So, she tolerates going bye-bye, but, now, I have to chase her down to get the harness on. :( Ume likes the thought of bye-bye (excluding getting his harness put on) but he moans loudly and dramatically the whole time he's in the car with his bed, harness and strappy-thing. Someday I should record his verbalizations.

We have the Outlook I carseat for Murphy. We have had it since right after we brought him home from Jodie. Murphy likes it because he can see out the windows if he wants, or curl up and go to sleep. I like it because it is pretty light and easy to take in and out of the car.

On their website they do have a console lookout. I have not used that one, but it looks nice. Here is the link

The other nice thing is that the cover comes off and is machine washable.

Good luck with your search!

Wow, you and I are so alike! I JUST ordered this last week: http://www.1800petmeds.com/Solvit++Pet+Booster+Seat-prod60510.html. Cey doesn't have a problem with the car but he likes to be able to look out the window, and I thought the seat might also be more comfortable for him. I know you said you wanted a console-type one - is Tillie really that small, or do you have a huge console? Cey used to love sitting on the console (while the car was stopped) but now only his front feet fit haha. Anyway, with the clips and straps and all I figure this one won't be too hard to move around. I'll let you know how it works :).

Check out this link. I have the regular Lookout for Beau, which he really likes. This link will show you the console model. Just make sure you get one that is big enough for Tillie -- but not too big for your vehicle.

Beau has recently gotten antsy about riding in the car, too. He alleviates his angst by hanging out the window at the limit of his tether!! I refer to his pose as "wing walking!" I really should get a picture of it.

ha ha Heather! too bad we aren't closer I could try out yours! :D
Tillie HAS hit 10 lbs, so she isn't near as tiny as she was, but she can and does still curl up on the console, BUT she has started trying to jump in my lap, into the back of the car, etc... trembling all the while. It is a safetly concern at this point and I am just going to have to cut her off from any freedom by harnessing her into a car seat. when ever I can figure out which one to get! ha ha
just measured, my console is 19x8 ...

Lorainne, that seat says it only goes up to 8 lbs... maybe a console seat for her is a pipe dream at this point. If I could find one that was easy enough to move that would be okay. BUT when all 4 of us are riding, I don't know where I would be able to put her. :(

Heather, I can't open that link? you can post it on my fb page, maybe that would work??
I just remeasured and am wondering how flexible the seats are... I THINK we could squeeze the 12 inch wide one by putting the arm rests up.. the other one would be way to tiny for Tillie

Try this link: . Looks like it's cheaper at Amazon anyway, darn it!!

I got the large, and I'm glad I did - Cey is snug but has just enough room to curl up and still be comfortable (Cey weighs ~11-11.5 lbs). Here's a picture of Cey in it taken just this morning :) Not the best picture of the seat itself, sorry - I will try again tomorrow. Anyway, he seems to like it - I think that he really likes being able to see out in all directions without having to strain. He just sits in there looking around from side to side as I drive!

I think the Outlook is pretty easy to move from front seat to back seat (and I've had 5 back fusions). It is secured in place by the regular seat belt. If your back seat is a bench seat, the Outlook will fit in the middle of that seat -- leaving room for a person on both sides. I like the Outlook because it is very versatile. I got an extra tether and clipped it onto the primary tether -- so that I can give Beau extra distance (how would he "wing walk" out the window if I didn't?). When he gets nervous (like when I won't put his window down all the way in 12 degree whether like tonight), he tries to get over into my lap, but he still can't reach. Oh yes, I also put a real small crate pad over the cushion in the car seat -- it makes me feel warmer!:)

awesome! I saw this one, but Tillie could care less about seeing out the window and I just want her to feel secure. I am wondering if she would feel secure in this seat being that it's so high... can it be lowered to sit ON the seat??

Yeah, I'll second the motion for the Snoozer. Benjamin loves to look out and see where we're going next! I don't have the console one, though, just the regular one. He weighs somewhere between 13 and 14 pounds, and I got the medium. Very easy to install and fits in a Toyota Corolla front seat. I rarely use it for passengers, though, I just tell 'em that's Benjamin's seat, and they'll have to take their own car. :pound: Though I sometimes make an exception and make Benjamin ride in the back, but he prefers to be up front with me and I do like to make my baby happy. :)

thanks Loraine! it looks like the same price as the one on Amazon... but the sizes are different. the petco one says it is 14 inches wide which would NOT fit our console. the 12 inch we could squeeze... so now I'm confused, is the large console snoozer 12 inches wide or 14!?? lol

I have a console seat and I like it, this is the one we have:

http://www.wayfair.com/Snoozer-Pet-Products-Lookout-Large-Console-Pet-Car-Seat-89-X-SZR1096.html

I like it because she can see, she is happy because she is close to me, and if we are on a roadtrip, there is someone in the passenger seat to help tend to her if she gets ants in her pants or needs something.

She still, of course, prefers my lap, but she can cuddle up in this and sleep, seh is about Tillie's size, so it should fit. I also ordered a bigger one, but sent it back because it wouldn't fit in my car.
