Hello. My 7 month old Bernadette is eating her own poop. Why? I thought she would outgrow it. I pick up the dog poop everyday that is in the yard. But if I miss some she eats it. There are all kind of remedies out there, but I am not sure which ones to try. Would love to hear your suggestions. Thank you!

Oscar is eating poop- but not his, only Buzzy's. We try to pick it up too, but it doesn't work. What I do is when I see Buzzy pooping, I call Oscar over and then give him a treat- this distracts him enough to not eat it and forget about it. With that being said, it'snot foolproof if I turn my back for a minute or whatever and I miss the pooping.

We always take Nina out on the leash in a designated area. When she had accidents in the house as a puppy she would eat and play with the stool if I did not see she had the accident. She is still very interested in her stool but we make sure she doesn't get to it. We also feed her twice a day and changed her food like the article suggested. A stool eating dog is not acceptable to me either.

Nina came from a setting that did not appear sanitary and I think she stool ate for atleast that time frame. I am hoping that eventually she is no longer interested.

I was shocked to read in the article that people would consider euthanasia instead of letting their dog out on the leash and making sure the dog doesn't eat the stool.

What were the food changes like brand, etc.? We thought McGee had quit until I discovered him recently eating Abby's poop (never his own). They eat the same food! I got suspicious when I would scoop the poop and only found big ones (Abby's are smaller than his) and sure enough he was hanging around waiting for her to poop so he could get it! I've been watching him and trying to distract him and scoop it before he can get it. With all this tooth brushing his teeth are sparkling white.......lol
