What is going on with this scratching?

Suddenly Lucky, who turns one next month, is scratching at walls, lifting rugs, attacking plants, and scratching at the wooden floors (he seems inspired by the space between floor boards). This is wild and completely new. Is it the sign of something physical? Does it have to do with age? He was evolving into the perfect little dog...until a few weeks ago. Would so appreciate experience/insight. Thanks...

Plants-the plants themselves or what they are planted in?

Mousey friends are a possibility. Or some other unwelcome house guest. It's the time of year when everyone wants to come in and get warm. Wouldn't hurt to check for signs of mice or termites. If that's the case be careful how you treat the problem. Even if bug control products are kept out of reach, a dog can still come into contact with a bug who has eaten the bait.

There's always the chance there are tiny yummy crumbs he can't get to. Or maybe he is scratching at a ghost? ;-)

Has he has his nails clipped recently?

Maybe he is just in a digging stage. Perhaps find him an appropriate place for digging and scratching and burying...dog bed, a blanket, etc. Bama has a little dog igloo thing age hides her treats in.

Although now that I think of it, she likes to dog in the bottom of her carriers. Not just the ones with the fake shearling lining , but the hard plastic one as well. The scratch of nailS against the plastic drives me crazy.
