Is my dog (part) Havanese
Hello all,
We got our dog Buster in December from a rescue shelter and have been very curious as to what he is.
The shelter listed him as a Papillon mix, the vet lists him as a mix terrier, his groomer said Shih Tzu, and we've heard Maltese, and Bichon Frise as well.
Here are the traits he does have: the tail curled over the body, and his body is higher at the rear than the front.
He does not have the underbite associated with Shih Tzus or the flat back of a Maltese.
We are pretty sure he belongs to the Bichon type, but we are not sure which breed. And he's also probably mixed with something else.
He does have the run-like-hell trait and will tear around the house after coming in from a walk. But he does not do it everyday.
I've attached a picture of him and two pictures of the litter he was born with.
What do you think?
Thanks for your help

He's a very friendly dog, but can be shy around kids that are excited to pet him.
He follows me around everywhere I go and does not like being left at home. When we are not home, he spends a good amount of time in his enclosed area barking away. So he doesn't always keep himself entertained.
He does bark at people he knows a lot more than he does at strangers.
As far as paper shredding, he has torn up some paper though I'm not sure if he's shredding it, or eating it. But its also not a behavior he engages in every time he comes across a piece of paper.

Welcome to the Forum!!
Buster (my boy’s name) is absolutely adorable, especially in his long hair. He does look Havanese-y. How old is Buster?
Go to this web page and then click on the breed names in the left-hand column for more details: http://www.theyreallkeepers.com/idall.html
What shape are Buster’s eyes – round or almond-shaped?
Does he have a double or single coat?
How much does he weigh?
How long is his body (from shoulders to base of tail)? How long are his front legs to the withers? His rear legs? Havanese have a more elongated body compared to the length of his front and rear legs (as compared to a Maltese which is almost square).

Even after seeing him in the long haired picture I think some terrier remember the hair hides lots of things, it's whats under it, any way he is very cute and it really does not matter, so it can always be a topic of conversation and wonder.

I agree with Robbie... He's clearly a mix... all you need to do is look at his sibs to tell that! But he couldn't be much cuter, no matter what his heritage is, and that's what counts most!

He could have some Hav traits, velcro dog is a pretty big one, and the RLH , he is really cute. I couldn't believe the difference from the long hair pic to the other one. Wow! He looks like he's full of spirit though and how awesome you rescued him
