My worst nightmare just (almost) happened!

I understand your fear completely! That night that Jasper was lost, all I kept thinking about was him being hit by a car. I was scared to drive to work the next day because I was terrified I'd see him on the road somewhere (luckily I got him back early that morning).

I hit and killed a dog on my street a few years ago. I was driving to work and a squirrel darted across the road in front of me. I hit my brakes for the squirrel and as soon as I accelerated again, a young pitbull ran right out in front of me from between two parked cars on the side of the street (chasing the squirrel). I wasn't even going fast. It was awful. I was sobbing and knocking on doors trying to get someone to help me. It was just terrible.

well, unfortunately, I can't trust my daughter to take her on a walk now.
My heart still skips a beat when I think of what could have happened. Cass is so strong when she pulls on the leash that I am scared it will break too!
The whisle is a great Idea, and I have one that was my grandmothers, and it's on a neckless. I need to find out how to train her for it.

Leah...I'm so sorry! That is a hard thing to live with, especially it not being something you could have avoided. I had a sweet young dog that disappeared on Holloween and all I kept thinking was her getting hit by a car too. At that time I lived on a really busy street. She was never found.

This is my worst nightmare too, Ozzie is not scared of anything...even a car! I'm so glad it turned out well. I'm thinking of trying the whistle training now

That is SO scary, I know my heart would be running a million miles a minute. I'm glad there was a safe and happy ending to that story , it just take a nano second for something to like that to happen.

I got out my whistle and tried it on her and she came right to me. Glad it didn't scare her. Now to train her....

we had a huge lightning (thunder) that was like a bomb right over us today...Scared Cass good, but luckily that was the biggest one. Her first! We rarely get lightning here.

I tried looking before and didn't find it, so that will help a lot! Thanks.

btw, I tried the whistle on her again when she was upstairs and she came running...she really seems to respond well to it.

Glad you found it...have you told your daughter that a whistle is her new piece of jewelry!
Maybe you can put it on a pretty ribbon instead of string.
