PETS Act Know your rights
In the wake of yet another evacuation disaster with Sandy ,apparently some owners were not allowed to take their pets with them. So it's good to know your rights in the USA as the result of Katrina. Here is a description of the law http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pets_Ev..._Standards_Act

Thanks for posting this, Dave. I had seen reports of Mayor Blumberg announcing that Taxi drivers were required to allow pets in their taxis during and after Hurricane Sandy. I di d not know that some owners were having problems keeping their pets with them.

yeah Starr I just finished watching Jane Valez Mitchell on HLN and a guy was told by police that he couldnt take his dogs and ordered him out. He lost all four dogs.
