Yes, it was dbeech's hav Zoey. aka Tillie's best and only Havanese friend... Tillie had stayed with them a whole week while we were in Disneyland last year. When we were there I was actually a bit concerned about the yard as the brick wall around the back of the yard was maybe 2 feet high and I KNEW Tillie could jump over it easily. they did NOT live in a really rural area at all either. I never imagined the horrors of what could have happened. Her other dog Riley was out at the same time when the coyote took Zoey ... just heartbreaking...

Our yard is not fenced. Kodi always goes out off-leash during daylight hours, but is always supervised. He has a really solid recall, though. From shortly before dusk until well after dawn, he only goes out on leash because of all the coyotes around here.

I think it was a bob cat, but it could justas easily been a coyote... probably more easily, since there are so many more coyotes around.

It is rare in the extreme for a hawk to mess with something as large as a Havanese. It happens, but it is extremely uncommon. Coyotes, OTOH, are a real danger to cats and dogs under 20 lbs or so. When they hunt in packs (as they often do) they can even manage a dog quite a bit larger than that.

I don't worry about my boys, as they are 15 & 16 lbs. I don't think a hawk is eyeing them up. I do worry a bit about Bella because she not even 7 lbs.

Thank God no coyotes around......I am surrounded by 4 major highways and wildlife is sparse. If a coyote makes it out of the Historical Park, 3-4 miles away, it will likely get hit by a car

I'm so glad right now that I live in the suburbs. BTW, Riley still never goes out in the yard alone because I'm afraid a HUMAN will take him!

Yes, I think she said lynx. Lynx is much bigger than a bobcat but either way that is horrible.
