leaving my babies for 2 weeks!

The good news is that I'll be on a warm beach instead of the cold canadian winter, bad news is that my doggies aren't coming with me. They are staying at my parents and will get spoiled rotten, but I'll miss them. I have a 5 page typed booklet of instructions, and I swear they have more packed than I do. I'm worried because my havanes is just starting to blow her coat and I've been combing her everyday. I doubt my mother will give it a proper combing and I'm sure i'll come home to a matted pup that needs to be shaved down.

I did that earlier this year myself (although I went to a colder climate). I worried myself that Momo would forget me by being gone so long or that she would be mad because we put her in doggie daycare for that long. But, she didn't, thankfully. What was funny cute was that I was a little sad dropping her off there but my husband started crying in front of the people who worked there. When we got to the car, he started sobbing because he was going to miss her that badly.

If your parent can take photos and send them to you in emails, you will still miss them but you will see that they are happy and won't feel so guilty.

Have fun, you're pups are with your parents to be spoiled. You may find the blowing coat is not too much for you to manage. I always board at the Vets because I have the dog with many health issues and meds, I use to have them give baths and brush, I have found it is easier to do it all myself when I come back...the staff tries hard but they are not groomers and sometimes cause worse matts.

On a side note I use to live between India and the US when my Kids were old enough they use to stay in the US and take turns caring and brushing my Shih & Lhasa(full coats) , my son all these years later tells the tale of the 8 months he did not brush on a reg basis...he paid our groomer $500 for each dog...it took her 4 days...she never told me. Heck, he should have just taken them to her for baths and brush outs 2x a month. He said it was worth it not to feel my wrath. I think you'll do fine. Have fun and enjoy the weather.

Gemma didn't even wake up this morning when I left for the airport at 4. Ruby got up but when I asked if she wanted to go for a car ride, she went right back to sleep. The problem is getting my parents to give me my dogs back when I return. They get used to having them around! It's great that I can leave them without worrying too much.
