You could always give him his breakfast and if he doesn't eat it within a reasonable time, wrap it up and then serve it again at lunch.
Brody is a dog who has never really given up the third meal (he'll be 2 in February). That's not to say he eats 3 meals every day, but some days he does and some days he doesn't and the meal he skips varies as well. I just resigned myself to offering him 3 meals and follow his lead. It's easier for me because Brody is on kibble so I don't have to worry about spoiling issues. I noticed that once the weather got cold here that he was ravenous for all 3 meals again for a while.
