Question New Hav parent..

Is it normal for puppies as young as 3 months old to be neutered?

Ume was neutered when I got him at 10 weeks, but, he was also a rescue.

Marlowe wasn't neutered until 7 months old.

I waited too long on my cat. Well I didn't mean to, but she had urine crystals and they waited until it cleared up. She went into heat. And i learned the meaning of caterwauling. That was excruciating.

I have herd its better to wait. Their are a few folks with male Havanese who wanted to wait a year but I cant remember why.

No, it's not "normal" except for shelter dogs.

JoJo was neutered at 10 1/2 months and I was happy with my decision to do it then. He did not have any complications at all.

Years ago we got an Entlebucher Sennenhund from a breeder in Canada. He came to us at 10 weeks and was already neutered. I was told that was the practice in Canada???? I took Lily at 9 months, just before her first heat.
Here is a link to a group in Canada

I know some breeders who spay/neuter before their puppies go home...they are not Havanese breeders...it is not a common practice. Usually they have a reason, you can always just ask.
