He's Being Neutered Right Now!!!
I'm having a really hard time concentrating at work! I dropped my baby off at the vet a couple of hours ago for his neutering surgery, and will be able to pick him up between 4:00 and 5:00. I know it's "no big deal", supposedly, but it is to me! I told the vet that this is a very important dog, and that he should operate on him like it's the president's dog, unless he is a republican, and then he should operate on him like it's his own dog. Ha ha ha. I feel so bad, because he is such a happy and loving and trusting little guy. When we got to the vet this morning, he ran towards the door -- slowing only to anoint the blue fire hydrant that they have right out front (one pink, one blue -- cute). Then he happily trotted in and wagged his tail at everyone, then trustingly went into the back with the vet tech. I hope he still trusts me after this! Sorry for being such a baby, but I just can't wait until I can pick him up and take him home and snuggle with him again.

Don't worry Eileen, just a few more hours. I think we all worry no matter how "routine" it is. I was worried Piper would be mad at me afterwards but she was just SO happy to see me when I picked her up and I'm sure yours will be too
Hope it's an easy recovery for your little guy.

Oh Eileen, I know exactly how you feel! When I took Augie in, I felt like such a traitor - he was also so trusting and happy, not knowing what was coming. That is the part that bothered me the most. Subjecting them to this procedure and them having no say in the matter. And I still have Finn to look forward to. His should have been over with, but his allergies kicked up at the time it was to happen.
Hope the day goes quickly for you and that the procedure goes uneventfully and he recovers quickly. I got a lot of housecleaning done to keep busy until that phone call came that it was over and Augie was doing well.

Oh, thank you for your support everyone! I got a call from the vet around noon, telling me that he was fine, but still a bit groggy, and a little "nervous". That's been the hardest part for me, because we've been working on the separation anxiety issue, and I knew he would be scared and upset in there. I had to lead group (at work) and just finished, so am going now to pick him up. I know you all know exactly what I am going through, so thanks again for being there! I'll keep you posted as to recovery process, but he's a little toughie, and I'm sure he will forgive me eventually.

I hope he's feeling better this evening. I'm sure by tomorrow you're going to find it hard to keep him "still & quiet" for the recommended amount of time. Don't know why the vet even suggests this - impossible!
