You know your dogs best, and yours are all older than mine. It would just worry me. I don't know if I'm a "neat freak"... your standards lower living with a household full of men or you lose your mind! But I am a CLEAN freak. Pee and poop all over the house would NOT be a viable option for me!!! (and with all orientals, it is SO expensive to have them cleaned...)

Beau LOVES to go to DayCare. He goes to the same one that has his groomer and his trainer. He knows many of the other dogs from various classes. They do try to separate the big dogs from the little dogs -- but Beau thinks he's a BIG dog. The staff all know and love Beau -- and they always have their eyes on him. He comes home tuckered out and very happy! (Reminds me, he could use a day at daycare real soon.) I probably don't send him often enough -- because I miss him when he's gone!!

I, for one, don't want my carefully trained dog in an environment like that.

Doggie daycares vary widely, as does the clientele. The one I go to is fantastic. The staff loves my pup, and often there have been up to four other Havanese there.

That's why I said "almost" always.

I think I am just going to stick with a dogwalker for now. I have been hearing too many horror stories of daycares lol. I am able to take Hugo to work with me (I own a tanning salon and he sits behind the desk all day with me while he plays with his toys or takes a nap. My customers adore him!) My only concern with taking him to work with me is that i feel he doesn't have alot of room to run around and play as much as he would with a walker or at home. My husband keeps reassuring me that Hugo loves to be anywhere I am but I just think he deserves to have puppy playtime too and while I'm at work, I am not always able to give that to him.
Another issue I am having is now that he is has been housebroken for months without incident he has peed in the house a few times. He almost does this right in front of me as if to say, "Hey look at me, what are you gonna do about it?" We decided not to neuter Hugo and I am wondering if this is related. My best friend who is a dog woner herself said her dog did the same thing when he was about the same age. Her dog is not a Havanese, though. Any thoughts?

When I leave the bathroom, he is outside the door waiting for me like a little furry bathroom attendant it's cute, but can be a tad suffocating. One of my questions is, how old do you think they can be to be left alone in the house by themselves without a crate? We have done this with success for a max of 2 to 2 1/12 hrs....but obviously there are things that require you to be out of the house longer. I think he would be fine for 4-5 but because the breed is so craving of companionship, would it be advised to get him a dog walker/sitter or put him in doggie daycare 2 days a week? I have more questions but ill start with this one lol....any advice would be great!!

LOL. Cora also follows me to the bathroom and tries to sit on my lap at most inconvenient times.

He is NOT doing it to make a statement... dog brains just don't work that way. However, many Havanese puppies go through back-slides in their training after you are pretty sure they are completely trained. It just means that you need to tighten up on supervision and reduce their territory for a while until you get them back on track.
