I'm so so lucky, one of my girlfriends runs a sheltie and she's really good, she's trying out for world team hopefully! She helps me a TON.

The HANDLING part of agility is SO much the hardest part to learn. And Kodi doesn't tolerate mistakes well... he tends to shut down if I make mistakes.

There is a woman who competes in NADAC around here who is absolutely amazing. She's older (and by that, I mean she has to be in her upper 60's at least) and wears braces on both knees. She clearly has some mobility issues. She runs two Aussies and a rescue Cockapoo. She sets the dog up in front of the first obstacle, then moves out to the middle of the course.... and then she STAYS there! She is SO quiet both with her voice and body, and never does more than walk from one position to another in the ring. She has her dogs so well trained (and they are FAST!!!) that she can direct them completely from the middle like that. Even with gambles she can direct them through without any trouble. Her dogs rarely make mistakes, even with hard discrimination tests, and they win a LOT!!!

If she were a trainer, I'd LOVE to work with her. But she's not. She's just someone who loves working with her personal dogs and has found ways of doing it well, despite her lack of mobility. She's really amazing and so are her dogs. I want to be able to handle a dog like that some day.

Some of the Nadac distance dogs are amazing but you sacrifice tight turns and accuracy on complex courses when sending dog from the middle.

Any odd little moves you see me doing in training are so that Mayzie gets the tightest turn possible and so she doesn't go off course Thanks BOnnie!!

We even time down to the second what works better sometimes, and the tighter, usually the faster for a small dog-but not always

Yes, I can see why she would choose NADAC over AKC or USDAA for exactly that reason. But it doesn't make her any less amazing. I don't think there are many people who can handle their dogs that far out that consistently.

I want to try Kodi in AKC... he likes all the different equipment, and he's good on everything. Just have to find time in between all the obedience stuff. I also need to get him to speed up on course. He CAN run fast, but he' still a little tentative on course.
