Well, Tylan was a concern for me as well but after extensive research and talks with the vet, this is the antibiotic used to treat ulcerated colitis. We have had a reduction in blood in the stool, it is becoming more firm and ironically, his eyes are clearing up. He developed toxicity to flagyl christmas eve and was rushed to the ER at 3:00 in the morning. This was all before the colonoscopy. He was on flagyl for the GI issues and bloody stool and bottom.

He's on pred because of his addisons, turns out the pred is also helping reduce the inflammation of his colon. Not giving him pred. is not an option. He needs it to survive.

Django is getting the best care available. His vet called me last night at 8:00 to check up on him and get an update. The issue is this, he has addisons and with that comes a whole bunch of other problems. He can't recover from something small and simple like most dogs can.

He has 2 vets at the clinic where we take him, he has a behaviorist who is unbelievable and helped us through our rough year with Separation Anxiety and our Allergist who has patients from all over the U.S. I truly believe our dog is getting the best care available.

My vet could have suggested an ultra sound or other test but ultimately a colonoscopy was needed because we needed to get to the root of the problem so we went right to that procedure. Without the colonoscopy, he would still be sick and on god knows how many different antibiotics trying to clear up the unknown issue in his gut and colon. I saw the images they took of his colon and even I knew there was a serious issue going on.

To be honest, I would not trust my dog with anyone else other than his vet. He saved his life 5 years ago by diagnosing him with addisions and if it wasn't for him, he would no longer be with us today.

Sounds like you're on the right tract. Sorry that D has had to go through so much. I feel so bad for both of you. It must be hard to watch him suffer with these ailments. You both must be very strong. Keep up the good work and I hope things have turned the corner for him. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
