tight collar

How do you know if your dogs collar is too tight? I have never had this issue however over the past 2 months, Djangos gained about 1.5 lbs. With everything that's been going on, I haven't put his collar back on, we are on a diet and I am happy to say we have lost half a pound.

But, the issue is the collar. Is there a way to determine if it's too tight? I bought the next size up but now it's huge.

I've heard you're supposed to be able to comfortably slip two fingers under the collar for it to be the right fit. Also, congrats on Django's weight loss!

Two fingers under the collar. If you can pull it over the ears it's too loose. As most groom dogs should only have their collars on for walks if possible, it is better to be slightly tight than slightly too loose. If you are out and your dog spooks and backpeddals, he could slip right out and then you've got a loose dog on the street. Can't tell you how many owners have collars on too loose as some dogs just slip right out of them because some hit the brakes as they are about to go into the salon area for nail trims.
