Soft Poop

My second poop post....oh no. I switched Ciara's food because she was playing with and/or eating it. Any who, now she is eating Orijen and she has really soft poop. Her poop is sticking to her butt due to her long (getting there) coat. I would like to provide great nutrition, but the soft poop is too much drama. Please advise........

How long has she been on it? It takes a couple of weeks for her body to adjust. Sometimes I add half an cooked egg to my Hav's Orijen in the morning (because I share), and those days there's never anything close to resembling soft poop. He does have softer poop on occasion on Orijen alone (ie not a rock hard tootsie roll), but it's still well-formed and easy to pick-up.

that happened to me with Acanna . Maddie was fine but Zoey had problems. Did you change gradually? Try doing half and half for awhile. What was the other food?

Did you switch her over gradually or just do a sudden switch? If you just did a complete sudden switch and it hasn't been very long, then it very well may correct itself given time. However, some dogs do better on Orijen than others.

Give her 2 solid weeks on Orijen alone before you make any judgement calls. She'll have loose stool throughout the transition.

Ciara is adorable!! My puppy had loose stools on Orijen but not on Acana. Now I feed her ZiwiPeak and use the left over Acana for training treats, and her stools are firm and easy to pick up. It is definitely trial-and-error to figure out the right food for your precious baby. Hang in there and know that many of us have been through the same thing. -Jeanne
