I really like the fact that both of mine alert me to someone at the door too, and I really feel that Augie possibly protected me one time when he was about two. This guy came to the door with a spray bottle of something - he had it turned so I could not see a label. Said he was going around giving away carpet cleaner????? Augie was out of sight but barking and his bark is deep - he sounds much larger than he actually is. The guy said 'have a good day' and left after I told him I wasn't interested. He went out and got into a car and drove off and never stopped at any of the other houses in the neighborhood. The more I thought about it, the more creeped out I became, and was very thankful for my deep voiced Augie. Mine have never nipped at anyone who has visited. Finn does the walking on his hind legs with his arms in the air, bouncing like a pogo stick.
