Dear friends
Although seemingly in the heart of the storm, my sister and I came through it with no damage to our homes, downed trees and a big mess outside, and three days without power. We sincerely hope that you and yours have fared as well. We have done our small share by bringing blankets to our Fire Department's blanket/clothing drive, and by donating groceries to our food bank.
Unfortunately for many, the task of rebuilding their homes and lives will go on for many months, if not years. It's hard to think about our fundraising event when many are still struggling, but HRI needs to be prepared for any new surrenders coming in from families who have been displaced or otherwise affected by the hurricane, and, as always, to provide for the pups that are currently in their care.
We have chosen 11/17-11/24 as the new auction dates. I realize that Thanksgiving falls within that week and people will be making preparations, traveling to visit family, or having family visit them. However, the second choice 11/24-12/1 leaves very little time for HRI to receive the winners' payments and for the donors to get their items to the winners in time for the holidays - since many shop for some of their holiday gifts at the auction, we chose the earlier date.
It would be appreciated if you would share the new dates with your network of family and friends and if someone would please post the dates on the Havanese Forum and Havanese Talk lists, that would be great.
