Nutritional Cataracts - HELP!
I am wondering if any of you have had experience with Nutritional Cataracts?
We are considering adopting a pup from a litter than had to be hand-raised as the bitch was not able to feed her puppies. Two of the pups developed nutritional cataracts because it's basically impossible for pups to get enough nutrition without their mother's milk. According to the research I've found online, usually the cataracts do not interfere greatly with the pup's sight, and over time they can actually correct themselves.
I have also read that if they do not correct themselves, it is possible to have cataract surgery done to completely restore sight to the affected eye(s). I'm a little concerned about the cost, though.
Of course, I'd like to hear some experiences specifically related to our breed if anyone out there can share!
