how much time in ex pen vs out of ex pen

How much time do your pups spend in their ex pen and how much time out of it? Sometimes I'm not sure if Bandit is not getting enough play time/exercise or maybe too much.

Oh, I forgot to add that he is 9 weeks old.

Jude will be 3 months on the 17th. I have a ex pen set up in my living room which I put him in when I need to be where I can't watch him, when I leave the house, or, on some days, when he's just "tired" and I think he needs a nap (not to mention my older dog needs a time out from him). This time will run anywhere from 10 minutes to a several hours (I play golf and bridge). I can tell you it doesn't stress him when I'm gone to play golf, or have to go into Tucson for things, because when I get ready to leave the house he lies in his bed and looks at me as I go out the door, and sometimes he's not even aware that I'm back until I open the door. Remember, though, my older dog, Dani, is always here with him - so he can hear that heartbeat. He's so smart. . .also, he has lots of playtime with me and/or Dani - and I try to take them for a walk most days.
