ticks the season

We just went for a little hike in the woods. Came back and pulled four ticks off Gryff. Lucky he's cream colored. I don't know how you find them on those darker dogs.

Anyway, just a warning - the ticks are out in heavy numbers!

Dexter is still on his Flea/Tick medication. He likes to woods to relieve himself at times, so I am not taking chances.

The way I felt the ticks on Dexter (black hair area) is when you are stroking and you feel something....you know it is a tick.

Yuck!

I had my first tick bite myself this year...and it hurts!

Now I am white as white can be and I didn't even see it on me! I just felt this stabbing pain in my chest and thought I had a lung infection at first as it was on my upper breast. Poor Gryff!

Finding fleas or ticks on havanese, no matter what the color isn't easy with all that hair.

What did the vet say about your other concern? Here is a photo of Gryff with his girlfriend...I wonder if they have tick prevention on in this photo...

Kodi and my cat are both on flea preventatives too... it doesn't matter. I've pulled multiple ticks off the cat, (who spends more time outside) and two off of Kodi. I also had to pull one off my husband (who is a chicken!). I've found two crawling on me, but they hadn't attached yet.

They're EVERYWHERE!!!

Linda - you are such a goof ball! Have you listened to the New Moon Soundtrack yet? I am so digging it. I can't wait for November 19th at midnight!

As for the ticks (the actual topic of this thread), the four I found on him were tiny deer ticks still crawling around on him. When they attach, they get HUGE and are pretty easy to feel.

Gryff is on flea/tick meds, but that doesn't deter them from crawling around in his fur.

YUCK.

IHT Too!
