Not eating after neuter

Can't seem to figure out why Roscoe isn't eating today. Yesterday when he came home from surgery I offered him about 1/3 of a regular meal, which he gobbled, although I had to feed it to him by hand as he had his two top baby canines extracted and the vet said he might be too sore to pick the food up. He kept the food down well, so after about an hour I fed him the rest of his meal.

Today, he hasn't eaten ANYTHING except for a few treats that Tim has offered him. We tried feeding him by hand again and he's totally not interested, although he was just interested in my fettuccine alfredo!

Is there a reason he wouldn't be eating? We called the vet and she said that if he still isn't eating regularly by Monday to bring him in. I can't help but think he's just being a picky boy, but I'm a little worried because he usually scarfs down every meal, although every now and then he's not really interested. Help?

He seems to have an appetite if he is taking treats and fettuccine. LOL. At least he isn't refusing food. Evye didn't have much of an appetite for a couple of days after her spay. I gave her boiled chicken and rice for a few meals. Is he on any pain meds?

Are you feeding him kibble? if so maybe try soaking it in some warm water to make it soft, his mouth could be bothering him when he chews the hard stuff. You can also try adding some boiled chicken to it.

I know that Kodi got a long-acting pain med shot before leaving the vet. Is it possible that they did the same with Roscoe, and that because of that, his mouth hurt less the first day? It could also be that there is some swelling from the extractions that wasn't there the first day. I know with people, you're told to keep ice on your face for 48 hours after having wisdom teeth extracted to keep swelling down, but it's kind of hard to do that with a puppy!<g>

I gave mine boiled chicken and rice. He sounds hungry to me. He just wants something other than what you're offering!

Well, good news! He gobbled up his breakfast AND lunch today Couldn't have fed him boiled chicken and rice b/c he's allergic to chicken and has never had grain, lol!

I did soak his food in warm vegetable broth but he still rejected it. He was just being a stinky, picky boy!
