Clover Home Post-Op!

I picked up Clover at the vet today. I was surprised to see no cast this time around - the vet, and everything I've read, say there's no proven benefit/detriment, so it doesn't matter much other than the cute factor!

He is much more with it this time around - still kind of spacey but much happier to see me, came home and grabbed his favorite ball in his pen. Knee looks good for having just been cut open.

Put him in his Pack'n'Play and he seems really pretty comfortable. We have a long way to go but I am relieved!

Vet also noticed his BUN (kidney) levels were elevated. He's been on a high-protein no-grain food but it looks like it's time to switch to something with less protein, which is hard when I'm trying to avoid grain! Will work it out though :-)

Thank you all! :-)

I am happy to report Clover is doing remarkably well! He's a little sleepy, sometimes has a little trouble getting comfortable, but is really in good spirits.

He is licking at his stitches (sigh) but right now a layer of vet wrap seems to keep him away from them. Would really like to avoid cone head - last time the cast prevented this problem!

We can now add to the subject line... "Clover home Post-Op! And making me CRAZY!!"

I am so glad he feels so good so soon after surgery, really I am. But, no matter how good he feels, he is just not allowed to run or play right now. I brought him in from a potty break today and he started bouncing around and grabbed a toy. I grabbed him up right away - I'm not going to lie, I'd hate for him to re-injure it because I don't want him to suffer more, but also that bald little knee sometimes just looks like $$ - and of course he just tried to push off my leg and then yelped in pain. He seems fine but - UGH.

Last time I got a nice week-long post-op lull before I had to wrestle him to the ground on a multi-daily basis. Sadly, he's not much of a chewer, so there is no stash of bones or other toys that can entertain him sitting still. He just wants to RLH.

I am thinking that once the stitches come out, there are some nearby beaches he can swim at - he even has a life jacket - so that will help. But there's just not a lot I can do from now until then!
