Zoonotic Diseases

My wife has shingles so I thought I'd check whether dogs can get the chicken pox from humans. Turns out the virus is not zoonotic. I wish now however that I had got chicken pox as a kid as I have to be careful not to pick it up from her. They say that if you get it as an adult that it is much worse. I'll take their word for it LOL . here are some of the zoonotic diseases https://healthypets.mercola.com/site...-your-pet.aspx

However, if you HAD had chicken pox as a kid, you'd be all set up to get shingles now. As one who has been through it, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Tell her she has my deepest sympathy.

So sorry to hear about your wife. I've heard that shingles are terribly painful. I did have chickenpox as a kid and I finally got a shingle vaccination a few years ago. Now I hear there is a new one out and they are even recommending that those of us that had received the old shot to get the new one too.

thanks, actually she hasn't had it to bad, just a rash on her chest that already is blistered and healing. Yeah she's looking into the vac.

Unfortunately, because of my RA meds. I can't have live virus vaccines. So I can't take the shingles vaccine.

I didn't know that. Thank you. I will look into that. I know that they weren't certain for how long the original vaccine provided protection. i got the vaccine a few years ago after a friend suffered through a particularly bad case of shingles.

I do remember as a small child being mystified that my grandmother had "shingles" on her back. really?

dave, I hope your wife recovers quickly.

I had an outbreak at 50, it was absolutely awful. Please tell your bride I am thinking of her.
