Car sickness

Iím still trying to figure out what works best as far as motion sickness. Does anyone have an opinion on using Dramamine vs Bonine? My vet said she thinks the active ingredient in Bonine works better for nausea which is Bodieís issue when he travels too long in the car.

always consult with your vet, we are not qualified to recommend meds.

Car sickness is often from anxiety. You might try an anti-anxiety collar/spray before giving medicine.

I haven't found anything that works yet. We've tried the anti-anxiety sprays and chews and something we got from the vet (can't remember which one it was at the moment), but nothing has worked so far. We'll be seeing if the vet has a 2nd recommendation when we're in the US later this month.

I have been advised to take them on short trips such as around the block and gradually increase distance. If a puppy only gets in the car to leave their first home and to go to the vet, the car would have a bad association. Take them a short distance and play fetch with a new toy, perhaps. Drive to a neighbor"s house for treats and spoiling. I have my new safety restraints in the floor of the great room put together like a tunnel and am treating the dogs when they go inside or take a toy or chew inside.
