Panic Attacks?

Hello Everyone, We are wondering if anyone has ever experienced a type of "panic or anxiety" attack with their Havanese. Our pup is 6-1/2 years olds and about 9 months ago, started having what we would describe as "panic attacks." She pants, shakes, paces, can't stay still or lay down, and is restless and barking.

We cannot associate these with anything in particular. She is rarely, if ever apart from us, since one of us is retired and at home at all times. She goes with us everywhere possible. She has not has any new food or medicine. We looked at some of the medical reasons, in general, listed for dogs but this does not seem to make sense either. Why? Her last attack was in late February and then she did not have another one until this Saturday 9/15 and again Sunday 9/16? As far as we can tell, there is nothing different in our routine, food, etc. Her last vet check-up was in July and all appeared well and healthy.

Has anyone else ever experienced this type of event with their Havanese? If so, what was the cause and how did you treat it? We simply want to ensure she is healthy and happy.

Thank you, in advance, for any advice or help you can provide.
Linda

PS -- I apologize if this question gets posted twice but I do not see my first one so believe it was lost to cyberspace.

Gee, I'm sorry you and she are going through this! It's hard to know exactly what is going on, especially when the events are so sporadic. and the symptoms you describe could be pain related as easily as emotional... especially since you don't have any idea what might have triggered it.

I think if I were you, that the next time it happens, I'd try to video her behavior and show it to the vet. So often our dogs don't show the same symptoms in the vet's office that they do at home.

Hope you can get to the bottom of what clearly sounds like a distressing situation!
