The biopsy results are in and Cocoa has been diagnosed with Hair Cycle Arrest (Alopecia X).Hair cycle arrest is characterized by a progressive (non-itchy) alopecia (hair loss) where there is an initial loss of the primary hairs and the development of a dull and dry hair coat (wooly lamb). It affects the trunk, tail, frictional areas and thighs. The head and limbs are generally spared.
She is otherwise healthy and do not have signs of other endocrine system abnormalities.
I am so thankful to finally have a diagnosis as her condition is becoming worse.
I am sorry about Cocoa’s diagnosis and her hair loss. I am glad however that she is otherwise healthy and that you finally have some answers. I think a shopping trip may be in order to get her some cute sweaters and tee shirts! Wishing you both all the best!
