Keeping quit after spay surgery

Any suggestions on keeping 6month old quiet after spay surgery. Zoey has lots of toys and new chews but is very agitated. She is on pain meds but doesn't seem sleepy at all. The Vet says she should settle down in a few days, could be reaction to meds. She is in a surgery onesie instead of cone so I was hoping she would be calmer. Susan

I kept mine in her crate, expen, or on a leash with me in the house. This kept her from running around or jumping up on the furniture because she was ready for action soon after her surgery.

I’m so sorry to hear that! I have a boy but I didn’t have any trouble keeping him calm the first couple of days. The hard part was keeping him from running after day 2-3, but we didn’t take him on walks and tried to do games that kept in one place, like hiding treats in pillows. Probably good she is in the onesie if she’s agitated, though. Even the soft donut bothered mine sometimes.

Is she more worked up than usual or more worked up than you expected? Maybe she’s super tough, but hopefully the vet will let you know if she seems unusually energetic.

Thanks for replies, I keep switching her from x pen to crate to beside me with a chew toy and out on the lawn on short leash for business. She is much calmer today so I think it was reaction to the surgery meds. I'm surprised how quickly she was wanting to play and get back to normal, much faster than other dogs I have had over the years. The next 2 weeks are going to be challenging. Susan
