Yikes, a dead rat!

I was just outside with the dogs and noticed Zoey playing with something in the corner of the yard. I thought it was a pine cone. I called to her and she came running dragging a HUGE dead rat by its tail!! This rat was the size of a squirrel. I screamed "leave it" and she dropped it immediately. I looked the rat over. It did not appear to have any open wounds. Do I need to be concerned about this?

Call your vet and ask. I would be concerned if it was rat who died from whatever the neighbors were using. But best to check with the vet...

If she didn't eat it I would not be concerned. If she did then there is the possibility that it died from poison. It doesn't sound like that, though.
