Worms! Yuck!

Worm. Ewwww

I got home and as I was letting my 4.5 month old pup out of her crate i noticed the pad in the bottom of her crate was wet (the pad is dark brown so hard to see). I assumed she peed in there (unusual for her) and when I pulled out the pad I noticed it was wet with brownish liquid (still could be pee mixed with dirt that was on the pad). When I cleaned it up I found a long worm: round worm about 2 inches. It wasn't moving. I photographed it before flushing it so I could show the vet.

Now she had a normal BM this morning and just had another formed BM now. She had worm medicine about 3 weeks ago, and had sentinel 5 days ago (also has worm medicine in it).

I can't imagine I owuldn't have noticed the crate was wet this morning when I put her in, but could she have diarrhea between 2 formed stools and pass the worm? Or did wormy pass some days ago and I'm a bad owner and didn't notice? there was no smell and I can't image i wouldn't have noticed the mess before now. I'm so disgusted!

I expect she was just passing the last of the worms. If they are round worms, sometimes it takes two doses. The heartworm med should also keep worms away. No shame to have them, keeping them is the shame.

I took photos but didn't think it would be in good taste to post them! I took the photos for the vet before I flushed the worm.

I think she was probably passing the last of the round worms. Many puppies have them, nothing to worry about.
