Treating Paw Cuts

Just got back from the beach yesterday and noticed Jackson is favoring his left leg. When I looked at his right front paw I noticed blood but could not find a actual cut. jackson is constantly licking his paw and I'm afraid it will become infected. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to treat? I cleaned it with soap and water and applied Benadine ( He did not like this) and applied a canine relief anti microbial. He has been sleeping a lot and I am hoping he doesn't have an infection. What are the signs of infection?

If you can't find the cut, and it is bothering him to the point that he is limping, you need to take him to the vet. It is possible that he has a puncture wound, and something is still embedded in his foot. They will take his temp (a sign of infection) and may want to shave his foot to be able to see and treat the wound better.

It's so easy for dogs AND people to cut their feet on the beach, between shells, barnacles and the possibility of broken glass. Hope he feels better soon!

aww poor baby!

I agree with Karen... a visit to the vet is probably the best thing. Keep us posted!
