Flea Treatments

We are visiting family this weekend, and the last time we took Dusty there, we think she was bitten by a flea/fleas. We didn't see any, but this is in the San Diego area, and our families are constantly treating their outside dogs for fleas. Dusty had a reaction to the bites and ended up on benadryl to control the scratching. We usually use Frontline Plus, more for the occasional tick than for fleas, but it works by killing the flea after it bites. I'm looking for something we can use for the few days we are there that would keep her from getting bitten at all. Any suggestions?

Maybe spray skin so soft above her and let it drop down on her coat. I called and they say it safe for babies. I am not sure if it stops fleas but works well with other insects.

Jan told me I could use "food grade" diatomacious earth (DE) carefully rubbed into the coat for fleas on Tori. I bet this would work for your situation. I know we've used "regular" DE on our carpets in the past when we had a flea infestation. It worked wonderfully!

Here's a link to a page w/facts and information on Food grade DE

Someone on eBay has it for sale, if you're interested.
