The canine opthalmologist prices seem to vary quite a bit for the CERF exam. Feel free to call and ask what they charge for CERF alone, and then ask if they add any additional charges to that fee (new customer exam, etc.). My opthalmolgist is probably one of the most expensive in the state. She charges $125 just for going in and talking to her. The CERF is added on top of that fee. That's why I prefer to wait for the clinics. I bring several dogs at once, and encourage my puppy buyers to go also, so we make it worth the while of the examiner.
