I'm back with another question, actually two questions

First one, I'm giving Bentley 1/4 of a 10mg Pepcid AC in the morning and then again at night, roughly 12 hours apart. I'm wondering if it matters if it is given with food or a certain amount of time before or after eating. The vet didn't say and at the time I didn't think to ask.

Secondly, Bentley started limping a couple of days ago (had been fine in the morning) and holding his front leg up at times so I kept him quiet the rest of the day and night. The next day he wasn't limping anymore and was very playful but I still restricted his activity a bit. Today he was fine all day, no limping, but then tonight he was running after a toy that my husband threw and then was jumping up on his back legs as my husband was walking with the toy and all of a sudden yelped and was holding his front leg straight and kind of out to the side. My husband picked him up and we sat with him for a couple of minutes and then he got up and was completely fine. I don't see that he is limping anymore and I felt his leg/foot/shoulder and moved things around and he doesn't act like anything is wrong. He does have bowed front legs and his feet turn out. He is one that is constantly jumping on and off the couch and pouncing and bouncing all over the place. Any ideas?

I'd just call the vet's office and ask if the medicine should be taken with food.

I think he needs good x rays on his legs. If hes not fixed yet it could be done at the same time. I would limit his jumping.I've never had to give medication for stomach problems so I don't know about that. Maddie has legg issues and we had to pay about a thousand dollars total. It would have been cheaper to have just gone to the orthopedic specialist. We had added costs of a emergency visit and a bad x ray because it was taken while she was awake. The second x ray was taken while she was under so thats why it would be more cost effective to have it done during his neutering. They can also pull any baby teeth that need to be pulled at that time too. At that time our vet recommended the specialist. He said to watch for pain by the time they are limping its to a point that its painful. I have learned to watch her conformation she starts running a bit different sort of stiff and her leg goes sideways. At this point I know it's time to stop and rest. She wakes up stiff and I can tell it hurts. Unfortunately her problem very rare and pain control or amputating her leg are are two options. Her elbow bone never connected to her leg bone it just floats. Because she developed cartilage and strong muscles it has held the bone in place. I've noticed when we don't get as much exercise she gets stiffer. She does best off leash because she pulls too much while on the leash and it puts more pressure on her leg.
