Pepsid AC dosage for vomiting

Does anyone know how much Pepsid AC to give for vomiting? Scudder woke up vomiting this morning. He is almost 15lbs. Any other suggestions for vomiting? I can't figure out what may have caused this.

Linda, I think the dosage is 0.5mg per pound. And you shouldn't use the maximum strength, just regular, which is a 10mg pill. So 3/4 of one should be good for Scudder.

I'm sorry he woke up sick this morning and I hope he will feel better soon! Amazingly enough, Kubrick also woke up vomiting today (the first time ever). It was yellow bile, so I think he might have had an empty stomach. He also had diarrhea, however, so we're on chicken and rice until that clears up. If he throws up again, though, I will take him to the vet.

Give Scudder a belly rub from me and a kiss from Kubrick!

I learn so much from this Forum. I didn't know you can give them Pepcid for vomiting. Linda and Lina, I hope Scudder and Kubrick feel better soon!

I too have never heard of Pepcid for vomiting in a dog?? My theory is that if the dog is vomiting he needs to get something bad out, and I would let it happen for a little while. If he continues for a day or two, then I would worry.

I'm in the same boat with Laurie. I'd let him vomit if he needs to and just make sure he gets enough water today. If it continues to tomorrow, then I'd take other measures.

funny, when he was vomiting at 3am, I went right to the forum and did a search for vomiting. Someone mentioned their vet recommending it. This forum is such a great source!
Scuds is fine now. He gobbled up his breakfast which is a good sign he is ok. Thanks!
I hope Kubrick is better this morning too!

That's so true, Linda. The search feature here is amazing. I'm glad Scudder seems to be better now.

Speedy recovery to Kubrick!

Thanks for all the feel better wishes! Kubrick is feeling much better and hasn't thrown up again and ate all his chicken and rice. He's been running around, too, so I think he's just fine.
