how much pumpkin?

Well...You know the plus size hav thread where I was blissful that my boys were actually eating the science diet W/D...not so much anymore. first they picked out everything else...now they won't even go near the bowl. So I am going to go back to the NV medallions but I want to add fiber (to fill cash up so he's not always hungry and so he doesn't eat his pooand to firm up Jasper's biz and help with anal gland issues...) So my new trainer recommended pumpkin as an add in--- and I thought "gee isn't that supposed to work for the other problem too" it is the one thing for the poo eating I have not tried. The trainer has big dogs and didn't know how much to give for a small dog.

Any thoughts of how much Pumpkin to Mix in with their food?

Has anyone added oat bran to their dogs diet to up the fiber?

I would really appreciate your input.

You can start with a teaspoon to make sure it doesn't really upset his intestinal tract. For a whole meal, don't start with more than a tablespoon at the most. You might end up with a surprise of really loose stools.

And yes, pumpkin is great for getting things moving when they are constipated. I haven't had any luck with using it to firm up loose stools though. I just ended up with bright orange diarrhea that stained the floor. Not fun.

No, orange squirts are not appealing at all. He should be fine with a teaspoon to start though. After that, you can increase it a little if you feel it isn't doing what you want. I just wanted to warn you that you don't want to start with a whole bunch at once because it does get things moving.
